Need for the Program:
During the 2004-05 school-year USD 501 reported:

  • 1,640 students absent on an average day
  • 27,526 students enrolled
  • 25,886 average daily attendance
  • 701 students truant
  • 2,154 students suspended
  • 41 students expelled
  • 304 students dropped out

Program Goal: Promote academic credit recovery and case management for at-risk and suspended/expelled students in Shawnee County.

Services Provided:

  • Center for Restorative Education for at-risk, suspended, and/or expelled students:
    • Academic credit recovery
    • Psycho-social groups
    • Drug & alcohol groups
    • Community service projects
