Need for the Program:

  • Families in crisis who cannot cope often require state intervention.
  • 570 Shawnee County children entered state custody in 2005 and it increases each year.
  • State intervention costs $22,000 annually per child.

 

Program Goal: Decrease the number of kids entering state custody by increasing family safety and ability to avoid and/or cope in a crisis.

 

Services Provided:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Voluntary family-centered assessment and service planning
  • Home visitation and support
  • Education classes and support groups
  • Referral and service coordination
